And here they are out of the package. In the picture below the Scor-pal is on the left and the Martha Stewart version is on the right. The obvious difference between the two is the color: grey vs. cream. But another difference will also catch your eye right away. That is the grooves are much closer together on the MS scoring board and occur every 1/8". On the Scor-pal the grooves are much further apart.

Here is a look at the groove spacing on the Scor-pal...

And below you can see the groove spacing on the MS scoring board. See how much closer together they are?

Another difference between the two is the inclusion of this neat little triangular gadget that is used to make envelopes.

This gadget is stored right on the scoring tool, at the bottom in this little grove.

Below is what it looks like all tucked away at the bottom of the scoring tool.

The Martha Stewart scoring tool also has a little storage compartment at the top that holds the bone folder as well as some envelope and box making guides. I opened it up in the picture below so you can get a better look at it.

Now is there a difference in performance?
The answer is yes! But again, as in the comparison between the Triart and the Copic markers I did on Monday, the difference in performance is neither a plus nor negative for either product but a matter of personal preference. Some may like bright vibrant color and some may prefer muted colors. Performance wise, with these two scoring boards, the only difference I saw was in the crispness of the grooves/creases that they made.
And I attribute that difference to the bone folder rather than the scoring tool itself. Here is why... The bone folder on the Scor-pal is much thicker than the one on the Martha Stewart scoring tool. In the pictures below you can see a side by side comparison. The Martha Stewart bone folder is on the left and The Scor-pal's is on the rightt.

Because the Martha Stewart bone folder is much thinner, it goes deeper into the scoring grooves and as a result makes crisper, more pronounced score lines. I took a picture below to show you. I apologize that the picture is not brighter but you can still see what I am talking about. The score line at the top was made with the Martha Stewart scoring tool and the score line at the bottom was made with the Scor-pal.
Here they are again with the paper flipped over. The one on top was made with the Martha Stewart scoring tool and the one below was made with the Scor-pal. The difference is subtle but it's still there.
Now which one should you choose?
Again it's a matter of personal preference. I love the Scor-pal but I think the Martha Stewart scoring tool offers more bang for the buck. Here is why....
- The Scor-pal is priced at $39.99 vs Martha's Stewart's version at $19.99
- With the Scor-pal you will most likely be paying for shipping as well, as they are not found in most popular craft stores and you will have to order them online.
- The Martha Stewart version can be found at Michaels, so you can use a coupon to purchase it, meaning you can snag one for between $10 -$12. I got mine for $10 with a 50% off coupon!
- The Martha Stewart version comes with an envelope making tool. The Scor-pal does not.
I think we are going to see the price of the Scor-pal come down pretty soon in order to compete with the Martha Stewart version. I also found it a bit inspiring that someone else out there decided to challenge two widely popular products like the Copic marker and the Scor-pal and improve on their design. I think this is a lesson to all of us that no matter how great something is, we can always improve on it.
Well that's it for today folks! Until next time, Happy Crafting!
Wow, thanks for the nice review! I had this in my hands yesterday and looked at it! Was wondering if the grooves and scoring are as smooth on the MS one as they are on the scor pal. Definitely a buy with a coupon! I really like that there are more grooves on the MS one as sometimes my math skills are tested to the max when trying to figure out something on the pal LOL...
ReplyDeleteGreat review and photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Thank you. I had been wondering what (if any) differences, beside colour would be. To me colour doesn't matter but performance does. Thanks for the review, it's definately thorough and objective.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I appreciate the time you took to explain this to us.
ReplyDeleteGreat review! Thanks I'll be looking for this at my Michael's
ReplyDeleteI have both tools and the MS one definitely has the best performance rating for me. I really appreciate the multiple measurements it provides.
ReplyDeleteI have the MS one and like it but wondered if there was much of a difference besides price. Sounds like I bought the right one. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThank you! You just saved me a lot of money!
ReplyDeleteExcellent review and photos! Thanks for taking the time to identify differences....and since I don't have either one, I'm definitely going to use my Michael's coupon to purchase the MS version. Thank you, thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to show the comparison between the two products. I'd love to buy Martha's, but I don't think Ms will take my 40% off coupon. In many of the coupons it excludes Martha. But even if they don't accept the coupon, it is till a better buy than Score-Pal!
ReplyDeleteCarmen L
I did not know this existed and have a Scor-Pal. I love it, but already see better attributes of this one. The price is half the price of the Scor-Pal and the part that intrigues me the most is the increments of the scor lines of 1/8". I love that option. While the Scor-Pal has some good grid lines, this one seems to be better. I have had projects that I had to fingure out how to get them right on the Scor-Pal and have the paper jump on me when they are not the norm. Make sense? Thanks for sharing this product review and I signed up to follow you. Hugs Lori
ReplyDeleteThe After Hours Stamper mentioned this post in her email I got today so I came to check it out. I already have the Scor-Pal and really like it but may try to replace it when I get a 50% off coupon from Michael's! Archiver's carries the Scor-Pal and has 30% off coupons so I did get it at 30% off since there is an Archiver's across town from me. Thx for you post and info!
ReplyDeleteGREAT TIMING! I have been wanting a ScorPal for forever and really need it now, BUT after reading this, I will be getting the MS one! Have to save those $ when I can these days!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Martha Stewart vs. Scor-it? Does anyone have comments on that?
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your review I decided to get this. I picked this up today with a 50% coupon
ReplyDelete(from acmoore) at Michael's. Can't wait to try
it. Thank You!
Arlene
Thanks so much for the indepth review! I've always wanted a scor-pal but could not justify spending almost $50.00 (w/shipping) on one tool. I recently found this MS version & I too used a 50% off coupon. The cost factor was the biggest motivator for me! I'm using my old, thicker bone folder instead of the included tool because it's sturdier. This score tool serves its purpose well and it is super affordable! Glad I bought it!
ReplyDeleteFran
Thanks for the info! This is too cool. I love my scor-pal but would love to have one with closer lines. You are just full of great info girl. thanks for sharing.

After reading your review (I didn't know about this new tool yet), and realizing I could find a 50% coupon, I called around and hopped the buses. It's 29.99 here, so I got it for $15.00. I like all the dimensions she has included for how to make different folds on cards and many sizes of envelopes, however, my one queerie is just... the type is small, and what if the black wears off? At some point I will do a print out of the folds for everything I guess.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited because I never would have paid the money for a scor it or scor pal. thanks for your review! I'll let you know as a newbie to scoring boards. J.
Thanks! Love the comparison! I'm gonna rush out for my Martha scorer!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis review came at the perfect time as I was just considering purchasing the Scor Pal but was struggling with the cost. I see a trip to M's in my near future! Stacey in NC
ReplyDeleteI picked up the MS score board about a month ago and I like it very much. I took a mechanical pencil and colored in the groove every 1/2 inch it helps a lot since the grooves are so close together. It also helps get a nice straight score if you hold the bone folder at a lower angle so the whole length of the slant part of the tip is in the groove (hope I explained that so you can understand)and start with the tip in the groove where the ruler is. I have the score pal too and if I had found the MS score board first I would have skipped the Score Pal.
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing the comparison. So much info. I am going to buy the MS board. Thanks again.naomipurple
ReplyDeleteEXCELLENT review and comparisons and the pictures are super! Your review makes it super easy to make a decision as to which scorer to get (MS of course). One question though, I think you mis-identified which tool is on the right and which is on the left in the pictures (you say...The Martha Stewart bone folder is on the right and The Scor-pal's is on the left.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great review. Now to find someone who can shop in the US for me LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is excellent! I purchased the Ultimate crafter's tool a couple of months ago but wanted more flexibility with more ridges so I was thinking of getting a Scor-Pal. Your article helped me make better decision! I'm going to get the MS scoring board. THanks again!
ReplyDeleteWow and a big thank you. I have been wanting a score pad for a while now. Always hearing how everybody loved their Scor-pal. I didn't have a clue as to price and now that I do and with your review, it is a no brainer.....MS for sure. I am NOT a MS fan per se, but sometimes a girl has to save a little money & now is that time. Much appreciated for the review!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great review. Yes, I can definitely see the difference in the crispness of the scoring line and prefer the MS result. Unfortunately, I finally broke down and purchased the Scor-pal for myself just a few weeks ago. Now I really wish I would have waited. :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the info on both boards - I had no idea I could store the envelope triangle on the back of the MS board!
ReplyDeleteExcellent review!
I have to say that your scor-line may be a little sharper if you buy a new tool it looks as if yours has been used alot . I have both and Prefer the Scor-pal hands down .
ReplyDeleteMelissa
Thanks so much for the review! I've been wanting a score-pal and an envelope tool, and thanks to this article I will be getting both in the MS score board!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the review. I bought the MS board and wasn't sure because I had not used the ScorePal before. The only thing I thought was a disadvantage on the MS board was that the lines were too close together. At times I found that I was skipping lines because they were too close. I'd say the ScorePal with Martha's bone folder would be a perfect match.
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much for this EXCELLENT review of both products!! I've been wanting a Scor-Pal, but couldn't find one. So I went to Michael's where they told me about MS's scoring board. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately so I could research more), they were out. And after reading your review with the BEST pictures and descriptions, I'm hoping that Michael's gets some in soon!! Thanks for this review!!! I would have spent way too much money without it! And the fact that you can make your own envelopes...that's amazing!!! :o)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this comparison! I had also wanted to know about the Ultimate Crafter Companion but Michales and a coupon with a gift cert.-it is now an easy decision. You have a great site!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the review. I have had a M's gift card for over a year and didn't know what to buy. Now I know. Great pics and descriptions.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great post! You helped me to make up my mind on which to purchase...
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to get my next Michael's coupon!!
ReplyDeletecan the ms scor board be purchased anywhere besides Michael's? My local stores are out of the product and cannot seem to tell me if or when they will get them in again. I need something soon for a valentines day project...
ReplyDeleteI bought the MS board yesterday and love it!
ReplyDeleteNever fails...after I buy something they come out with something better and less expensive. Gotta have the MS one and I will keep the SP also. Thanks, Great Review!!
ReplyDeleteExtremely helpful!!! Thanks so much for this, the MS board will be my next purchase!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for review. I have been putting off buying one but I am now on my way out the door to go to Michael's.
ReplyDeleteps.
My Michael's also takes JoAnn coupons!
Thank you SO MUCH for the info. I was looking for the Scor Pal and couldn't find a store for it in Edmonton. I wil definately be purchasing the MS score tool.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for doing this review... I have been wanting a score board and just hadn't leaped on the score pal just because I couldn't believe that my options were so limited... I love the look of the MS and just needed some reviews. Awesome of them to include the envelope template!!
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this very well documented comparison. I've been having QUITE a time with my local Michael's and can't seem to find it on the web either (not even on the Martha Stewart site). Any ideas on where else to look? I'm sooooo frustrated because I want it so very badly :-(
Hi,
ReplyDeleteWanted to add that I have both as well and I had heard some were unhappy with Martha's board because of the way the bone folder jumped the grooves when scoring. I found this happening to me too sometimes -- at first.
TIP: I discovered that if you use the opposite end of the Martha bone folder to score with (the wider end), you never have that problem. It stays very easily in the grooves. So if you're concerned about that, try the other side of the bone folder!
Another HUGE plus for me was that the MS numbers marking the score groves are so much easier to see and every grove is clearly marked.
It's incredibly user friendly! I love it!! :)
Thanks so much for this wonderful review. I have been wondering myself in the difference other than price. I think I may be head to M's after work.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for this review. It was very helpful. I have the Scor-Pal, but I NEED this one. I live in Miami, FL, has anyone seen it around this area?
ReplyDeleteRead your review, checked it out, bought it, love it. All the score lines are so much sharper, and the cards almost fold themselves. Thanks for the great imformative review.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this awesome review! I couldn't decide if MS or SP - Now I definitely will go for the MS!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your review! I'm thinking I want the MS Score Board now!
ReplyDeleteI also had one of these in my hands at Michael's the other day, and I put it back. Drat! Now I'll have to go back to Michael's tomorrow. I don't have an embossing machine (it's on my wish list), & I am crazy for the look of the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. Well, today I found a little tool online while looking into scor-pal boards, that you use with your scoring board to make those tiny embossed dots - called a Scor-Bug. It runs along the grooves. It was $6.95, with free shipping.
ReplyDeleteBecause of your review, I called my nearest Michaels store and asked them to hold one for me!
ReplyDeletethank you so much for this helpful review!!!! I was thinking about which one to get! now I think I have an answer!!! =) Big big thanks! you ROCK!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat comparison! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job here, and I am so grateful for it. (I have a pretty good idea of how much time this took - you're a rock star!)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all the great info!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I have the scor-pal and paid $40 at my LSS and was always wondering if I should have bought the score-it instead for the flexability. I like MS quality of products and just might have to invest if I have a coupon and an extra $10. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteThis is my very first comment on any blog..I have been debating the cost of a scor-pal and if I really needed one..You made up my mind for me..I am going to buy the MS scor board..Thank You so much for doing this demo, it had everything I needed to know to make a decision..thanks again..
ReplyDeleteGreat review and very timely for me as I've been considering buying a Martha or Score Pal. If my Michael's ever gets the Martha back in stock I'll be there with coupon in hand!
ReplyDeleteI too had been trying to justify the price of a Score Pal. (Always feel irritated at the products that are not carried at Michael's or A.C. Moore's) I had been using the EK Success and the score blade on my rotary trimmer. I had a 60% off at Michael's, so I sprung the $8.00 for the MS board. The MS has made a tremendous difference. I had used a friend's Score Pal, and this is so much easier.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Brilliant review....thanks for all the info and taking the time to take all those photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this review which I found on line a few days ago. The Martha version has only just arrived in the UK and I bought it even though I had the scor pal version. As you said it was half the price. I will have a go on both and then maybe keep one or maybe both, lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks again - I have mention your blog on a few UK forums as the comparison is so helpful.
Your review is right on. I have both the Scor-Pal and the Martha Stewart. I totally agree with your comparison. I have marked the MS top bar with different colored dots to show where to score for Center Fold and gate fold cards.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the confirmation of what I have found.
Have a GREAT DAY!!!

ReplyDeleteThat was very informative. Thank you! I bought a Scor Pal after everyone raved about it but noticed that it did not create creases as crisp as what I got when I was using my paper cutter board and cricut bone folder. My 121x12 paper cutter board has grooves every 1/2 but a deep (and wide) "ravine" near the top that forced me to readjust my paper when I was scoring. So I got the scor pal. Like many, I now wish I waited. I'll be snagging the MS one soon!
ReplyDeleteI want one but our local Michaels is sold out -- bummer!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think SU should make one of their own with distinctive lines of measurement so it is user friendly for all...
ReplyDeleteI agree with you totally. I have both, finally decided to buy the score pal and than MS came out with hers. Not sure if I needed it but used 50% coupon so got it for $10 and am very happy with my purchase. I use both but am lazy so enjoy the lines 1/8 apart on the MS one.
ReplyDeleteNana Jo
WAIT!! I am surprized that no one has commented on how uncomfortable the Martha Stewart bone folder is to use. The sharp edge needed for the narrow groves extendes all the around and CUTS INTO YOUR HAND WHEN SCORING. There is no reason why the bone folder could have not been designed with a sharp tip but a coumfortable handle. Other than that, the review is pretty accurate. Thanks! Lee R
ReplyDeletedoes anybody know where can i get this scoring board in the uk?

thanks. that was a wonderful review of the scor pal and the Mathar Stewart version. love it. thanks
ReplyDeletewhat a great review, thank you for doing this. i am so tempted to buy the ms board but we don't have Michael's in he uk so i will have to buy online, this means i don't get a good look before i buy so the review was perfect for me. i have read that it is in us measurents which are not the same as uk so i wonder if i should still buy...hmmm so tempted!
ReplyDeletethank you again. what a great blog!
Love my ScorPal, but always disappointed they don't have more lines @ 1/4" or 1/8". As someone else mentioned, I'm math challenged & if I need to score a line a 4 5/8" or something its tough on the SP. One thing I must say, I purchased the cutting mat/non stick surface that goes into the ScorPal and I LOVE that. It is always on my desk and my favorite work surface. Looks like it would fit nicely into the MS version. Folks should check it out, worth the money.
ReplyDeleteJust bought the MS Scoring Board today @ Michaels w/ my 50% coupon. Didn't really know what the pros and cons - only that it's much cheaper. Only read your review hours later. Really appreciate the great review. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteThank you I had just been wondering what the difference was, I don't have either but do have some other scoring boards but I think I might get the MS one after reading this.
ReplyDeleteCazzy
Just like all the comments - thank you so much for the comparison. I have the scor-pal and have seen the MS board. I like that the MS board has more groves and of course that it is cheaper. What I dont like, is that once again, a large company will put a small company out of business. I know that is how it works in America but it really is sad. Scor -pal has been serving us all for so long and I really hate to see a company like MS put them out us business! Instead of taking products that already exist - why dont the larger companies just come up with new stuff? We could all use some new stuff right? We love new stuff. Oh well, that is America!
ReplyDeleteik heb je uitleg gelinkt vanaf mijn blog:)

Thankyou for your interssant and usefull post, you helped me to decide :)
ReplyDeleteWOw! Thanks for a very helpful review of the two products :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for a clear review of both products. I have been looking for a new scoreboard recently and notice that these are two recent additions in the UK. I was more torn to the MS due to the cost and just decided to check if any reviews available and came across yours. I know which one I will be purchasing today! Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThanks, this really helps me. I have been wanting the Scor-pal, but have not yet ordered online. Yesterday I was at Michaels with my 50% coupon, saw the MS scoring board and grabbed it, but something else caught my eye and put it down with the intention of going on the Internet and looking for a review..... I am glad I found you and that you did this!!!!!!! THANKS
ReplyDeleteThanks a million for this great review! I only have one question left: I see that the right side of the scoring board (martha) is "open"... does it affect the stability of the paper?
ReplyDeleteThank you in advance for your reply
Gen
No, it does not affect the stability of the paper.
ReplyDeletehelaas als hij in centimeters was zou ik gaan voor de martha stewart versie maar nu niet
ReplyDeleteI HAVE BOTH,THE SCOR-PAL WAS A BDAY PRECENTand I got the MS with a 50%coupon by Michaels and I like the MS better, I only wish they had both cm and inches because I use often cm
ReplyDeleteWOW - thanks for this great comparative article - I'm trying to decide which one is best for me. My only concern now is how many projects are already available for the Scor-Pal as opposed to the MS Score Board. TFS!
ReplyDeletehelen -- Firenze Cards
PS. I have "borrowed" your great side-by-side pic of the two boards and put a link to this article on my blog.
ReplyDeleteHelen -- Firenze Cards
I have never heard of the Scor-Pal; but, bought the MS a while ago.(That 50% couplon was burning a hole in my pocket). I had it about a month before I ever used it. With my first use, I was in love with it. The deep score makes very professional looking envelopes. The boxes that it makes are also very easy to make and look great. In my opionion, a "must have" for any paper crafter.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comparison. I was looking at the MS in Michaels then came home and googled the SP. I came to the relatively the same conclusions w/o actually using either of them. Then I saw that SP is coming out with a Score Buddy - looks like a smaller more compact version for just cards and small projects - space saving on tables. As for previous posts, I'm not sure what they mean by available projects. I would think you could do the same projects on the MS.
ReplyDeleteGreat Job! I have the score pal but think I will get a MS for the envelope making extras as this novice may need some extra help at making enveolpes. With my SP I have wished for some lines closer together for some projects.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteIt is so funny that I just came across your wonderful site. Last week, without the coupon, I purchased the MS score board and was about to return it today. The reason being - I bought it to make the rondel which is pictured on the cover wrapping but for which there are no instructions. Can see by your info, made the correct choice in purchasing the MS board (thanks) but can you help me locate instructions to make the item it was bought for?
Thank you so very much.
Thank you for taking the time for a much needed comparison! I found this very helpful especially since I was just looking into buying one for scoring! Thanks!! And you know what I LOVE or think I'm gonna love more about the M S one is that it looks perfect to do accordion folds. It will save a lot of time. Instead of having to move the paper to the measurement line each time! Ya know?? Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information. I was going to get the score buddy but after reading your blog, I think I am going to get the MS one. I will wait until I get a 50% off coupon.
ReplyDeleteI recently bought a MS scoreboard and love it. If I have a complaint, it would be that the instruction phamplet contained instructions for only 3 items & I would like to learn more about what I can accomplish with it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the excellent comparison. I have a scor-it but now I am also interested in buing a MS scoring board. The only thing is that I live in Bali, is there an online firm to order from?
ReplyDeleteJogry/bali
Do you know if there is a MS in cm????
ReplyDeleteRead your review, checked it out, bought it, love it. All the score lines are so much sharper, and the cards almost fold themselves. Thanks for the great imformative review.

It is good to know that there is a competent competitor on the market. I've been looking forward to purchasing the Scor-Pal for some time but the price has beaten me every time. It seems there is hope for being able to give a home to the MS. BUT ... who is Michael? Is Michael in Australia? Like I know plenty of Michaels but none who sell MS. Where will I find him? Or, does he have a friend in Australia?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comparison of the two products. Fortunately for me, M's has a MS coupon for 50% off - my M's had one left - and I have myself a new scoring board for 10 bucks! Perfect timing!!! :o]
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the review. A friend of mine in Flickr showed me your blogspot to see the differences. Now I know which to buy, though either one, I should make a shipping to my country. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Dwita.
Great Review, It was detailed and you gave enough information on both products so that I can make up my own mind on which one to buy. Keep up the great work. Thank you so much for being my eyes...out there...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! I have been seriously deciding on getting one...but my problem was which one. I have bought a couple items in past to realize they weren't worth it or found out much later that something else was better choice. So thank you as I would of been upset with my decision. Wish I had your addy I would send you a goody package as I thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteJackie
Thanks for the DETAILED comparison. I just learned about these scoring tools and didn't know which one to get. I think I'll go with the MS one. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat review! Was just about to buy the Scor-it, but now I'll get the MS one! I appreciate how thorough you were with your descriptions!
ReplyDeleteYour review was great! I have been wanting to purchase a scoring board for along while and wasn't should which to choose; Now I know. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for doing this comparison!! I didn't even know there was a comparable product on the market, and now I can't imagine NOT getting the MS one! Your research is truly appreciated!!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI just five minutes ago ordered the score pal! and now I read this.. I should have read this FIRST! Oh well.. I know I will enjoy my scorepal and later I will get the MS and I will give my scorepal to my sis.. Thank you for going through all the work putting up this comparison..
ReplyDeletewhat a great review ! Thank you so much . This made up my mind and I am grateful for that . The Martha Stewart one it is . I want more bang for my buck :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for a VERY informative review concerning the MS scoring board - I'm going right out and buy one (with Michael's 50% off coupon)! I didn't realize the board had a 'storage' area and the fact that you showed the differences in the scores between the two products made a huge difference. Thanks again for taking the time for the review!
ReplyDeletei AM NEW TO PAPERCRAFTING. THIS REVIEW WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL TO ME BECAUSE I WAS CONSIDERING ORDERING THE PAL. I'LL JUST GO AND GET THE MS BRAND. YOUR REVIEW WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND NON-PARTISAN.
ReplyDeleteJPP
Thank you soo much for doing this comparison for me. Didn't know there were two out there and had planned on buying the scor pal on friday. I think I will now go with the MS version. Any ideas on those glitter cloths by scor pal?
ReplyDeleteI think the Scor-Pal and Scor-Buddy are great. They are made in the USA and private owned, I beleive. I go for the smaller company, keep them alive. They give such a great resource of things one can make.
ReplyDeleteI saw MS one this week & thought I should research before buying. Thanks for a great review of the products. So glad I found your site.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great review! It has helped me tremendously to make a decision on which scoring board to buy! I will go with Martha Stewart...if it had not been for your review, I may have chosen a different board....thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI just bought the MS score board to help make invitations for my son's wedding. I love the crisp line it makes and the fact that the grooves are close together, but has anyone else had trouble with the tool being so sharp it hurts your hand? I don't know if I'll be able to get through 100 invites with this. After one, I put on my glove which was handy and used that for padding. This just doesn't seem right.
ReplyDeleteMerci pour ces explications! Je possède le scor pal et je ne comprenais pas la différence! Merci de l'info!! Nadine
ReplyDeleteWow thank you for the comparison.I was wondering which I chose and now I know what would best suit me. No onto the find the difference for the copic markers.
ReplyDeleteOh! WOW!!!! Thank u so much for this eye opener.... I was all this while aware of just Scor pal & was desperate for one..... but this has surely helped me with a right option..... God Bless u for sharing this discreet info with all of us.... Hugs))))

ReplyDeleteThanks Sue you did a wonderful job for all of us!!
ReplyDeleteI first started with the large Score Pal several years ago and loved it! When MS came out with her scoring tool I debated for quite awhile. In the end I also purchased the MS Scoring Tool. What I found along with all of Sue's comments. Like Anonymous (2nd one up), MS bone folder is uncomfortable to use and if you are not careful you will put a hole instead of a crease in your paper. I use both boards regularly and the pluses and minus are all very valuable. Thanks again Sue!
Thanks Sue

Scor Pal version 3 is same with MS board?
which one is advanced?
Hi Sue! Just wanted to say thank you so much for your great post! This info was invaluable as I was debating getting a MS scoring board (last one). When I read what you said I jumped on it! It's scary how much boards are in Australia, MS are about $70-80 :( Thanks to you I will soon be making more exciting cards. You're a gem! Suz x

I just bought the MS board from Photo Continental in Brisbane for $25. They had them down from $37.90. Great deal if anyone is still looking for one!
ReplyDeleteps thanks Sue for your fantastic review. Helped make my choice that much easier.
